Good Shepherd Endowment Fund
The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Endowment Fund helps support various ministries and programs that exist outside of the Good Shepherd’s Ministry Financial Plan. Grants from the Endowment Fund have supported ministries like youth mission trips, the purchase of Bibles in worship and education ministries, Stephen Ministry training, Carillion Steeple Bells, liturgical art, building remodels and projects, WELCA events, Transportation Ministry, staff development, special performances by internationally recognized Christian musicians and worship leaders like Agape, and the Western North Dakota Synod – Seeds of Faith and Flood of Love campaigns.
Only the interest earnings of the Endowment Fund are used to fulfill grant requests. Your prayerful gift to the Endowment Fund ensures that ministries like those listed above, will continue to take place for years to come as God’s work unfolds through the ministries at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. By supporting this ministry you are also taking advantage of a tax benefit the State of North Dakota has offered the last few years but is subject to change. The state maintains a tax law that directly impacts the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. The law provides a powerful way to multiply the effects of gifts to a qualified endowment. Briefly, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has established and maintains an endowment through its constitution. As all such endeavors, it started as an idea and has slowly but surely grown. Today the fund is in excess of half a million dollars. Yearly grants are available to aid Good Shepherd Lutheran Church up to 5% of the yearly average and under unique circumstances up to 10% of the average value. The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Endowment Fund is administrated by the Endowment Council. The Endowment Council is elected by the congregation at the Annual Meeting.
