Service Opportunities in Worship

Worship Care and Preparation

Called by our Savior Jesus the Christ, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) that is committed to serve others by living the word daily in action and deed; offering our church facilities as a gathering place for member and non-member alike; and giving of our time, talent and financial resources to support local, domestic and global ministry and mission. (Matthew 25:35-40, Mark 10:45, Luke 10:25-37)

There are many opportunities to get involved with worship including aiding with worship space care (Altar Guild), serving as a reader, usher, communion server, or even with set-up.

Liturgical Reader

Bring the power of the word of God and love of scripture to others during worship. Readers must be able read in a slow and clear voice so that the words on the page come alive for those listening.

Usher/Greeter

Greeting and attending to the needs of the congregation during worship. This is a fantastic ministry for anyone who loves to be around other people!

Communion Distribution and Preparation

Communion Assistants help with the set up and distribution of Holy Communion under the direction of the pastor.

Worship Teams
and Special Music

Good Shepherd’s contemporary worship teams are always looking for new and exciting ways to spread the Good News of Jesus to our region. If you have a love for contemporary worship and the desire to serve God as a worship leader, let us know!
Celebrate! Worship Team

The Celebrate! Worship Team is a talented group of musicians that has led worship for many years at our two contemporary worship services in the Sanctuary every other Sunday, alternating with the Horizon Worship Team. Instrumentally they consist of drums, piano and synthesizer, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, percussion and several vocalists, utilizing the latest Contemporary Christian worship music alongside familiar songs that keep a “touch of Lutheran tradition.”

Horizon Worship Team

The Horizon Worship Team is another group of musicians that leads worship for our contemporary services in the Sanctuary every other Sunday, alternating with the Celebrate! Worship Team. Instrumentally they consist of drums, piano and synthesizer, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, percussion, and several vocalists. Some of the musicians from this team also lend their talents to The Well Worship Team and help fill in for other special events and worship and music ministries.

The Well Worship Team

The Well Worship Team is a talented group of musicians that leads a contemporary worship on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. from September through May and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. during the summer months. The Well is a unique worship experience that blends music, Scripture, and study together in an intimate atmosphere. A good cup of coffee, juice, and even a small snack, makes this style of worship a little different from the everyday.

Technology In Worship Team

If you don’t think technology plays a role in worship, think again! Technology is one of the fastest growing ministries of worship today. If your interest is in recording, videotaping, web-site maintenance, sound systems, projection, or any other technology based application, we have a spot on this team for you!
