Gifts from the Heart Ministry
To reach out to the disengaged in our community with gifts of time, talent and service which God has given all of us. The Beginning Gifts from the Heart ministry was created when partner, Monika Cox, thought of a creative way to give back to the disengaged. This ministry will reach both our community of faith at Good Shepherd and individuals, agencies and organizations in our extended community. The Ministry Through the Gifts from the Heart ministry, the disengaged can be reached in two ways. Gifts of time and talent are gifts including both homemade projects and purchased items. Gifts of service are gifts given to GSLC partners, or others in the community, who may be in need of assistance with household projects, daily chores, lawn care and much more. The Gifts Gifts from the Heart ministry will dedicate one type of gift, and one agency, organization or person, to which the gift will be given each month. These gifts may be either a gift of time and talent or a gift of service. Additionally, the gifts given throughout the year may change depending on the specific needs of the community and the availability of the items given to support the mission of this ministry. Gifts of Time and Talent Gifts of time and talent include a variety of homemade or purchased gifts such as caps and gloves, fleece fabric for tie blankets, toiletry items, baskets, homemade jewelry, coloring crayons, toys, kitchen utensils, homemade jellies, children’s books and much more. Gifts of Service Gifts of service include a variety of service gifts such as raking leaves, pet sitting, painting, shoveling, gardening, window cleaning, grocery shopping, and more. Gift Recipients Gifts from the Heart ministry provides gifts of time and talent, along with gifts of service to GSLC partners, agencies, organizations and individuals in the extended Bismarck/Mandan community. Some of the recipients of these gifts include The Ronald McDonald House, the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House, the Abused Adult Resource Center, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, deployed military soldiers in Iraq and many others.
