Pastor Craig Schweitzer - craig@goodshepherdbismarck.com

Senior Pastor

Pastor Craig joined the staff of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in July 2001 as Music & Worship Minister. Craig’s professional background is a diverse collection of musical and educational experiences that ranges from live concert production and promotion to recording studio applications, and live performance to music education. Prior to joining Good Shepherd, Craig was an Instructor of Music at Bismarck State College and owned and operated a successful teaching studio called 6x6 Guitar Studio.

He is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA and was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in September 2010.

Craig sees his focus at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in a unique way. He says, “Worship is a part of everything we are as Christians. I hope that God is leading us to a deeper relationship with Jesus through our worship. And, I believe that the youth of the church are not the future of the church - they are part of the church today. I hope that we celebrate that and encourage them to be active in all that God is doing in their lives and in the world.”

Outside of Good Shepherd, Pastor Craig enjoys reading, all music, a little golf, and quiet. Craig and his wife Wendy also enjoy time with their twin girls Ilia and Taegan, who keep them in a constant state of motion!

Pastor John Robert (Bob) Caranicas - pastorbob@goodshepherdbismarck.com

Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries

Pastor Bob joined the staff of Good Shepherd in August 2013. He began his ministry life in 2001 as a member of a three-person youth ministry team at Bethel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and moved into seminary from there. He was ordained in that church and received his call to Prairie Rivers Parish in Wyndmere. Since 2011, Pastor Bob was the lead pastor in that four-point parish.

"I thank God for calling me into such a dynamic ministry so far and I am excited for all that He continues to bring into my life," Pastor Bob stated.

Pastor Bob has three daughters, all grown, and one son, in ninth grade. He and his wife Julie have been married for 27 years. They have a variety of pets, mostly acquired by their daughters. Pastor Bob enjoys riding motorcycle, hunting and fishing, and music of all kinds.

"I am a fairly decent singer and am on a journey to teach myself some chords on the guitar. My calling seems to bring me in contact with lots of youth and we seem to get along well. I also feel very comfortable in a worship leadership setting," Pastor Bob explained.

Pastor Pam Power - pam@goodshepherdbismarck.com

Associate Pastor of Congregational Life & Pastoral Care

Pastor Pam joined the staff at Good Shepherd in July 2014.  She has a diverse background of work and life experiences.  She grew up in New York, working in a variety of jobs, including customer service at a life insurance company and as an EMT.  She then moved to Columbus, OH in 2001 where she worked as an IT Trainer.

It was in Columbus that she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Capital University, then went on to Trinity Lutheran Seminary where she graduated in 2009.  Pastor Pam was ordained in June 2009 and served a congregation as a solo pastor outside Pittsburgh PA for four years.

Pastor Pam is a widow, losing her husband of ten years in February 2014.  “I think all of the struggles I went through with my husband’s long illness and experiences in hospitals and nursing homes makes me so much more empathetic to people who are struggling with health issues, and especially with caregivers of those who are ill.”

Pastor Pam has a son Matthew who was born in 2006.  “He brings me great joy (and some frustration!), and we love to play outside and have battles with our Star Wars lightsabers!  I also love to read – usually two or three books at the same time, and explore Bismarck as I continue to get to know the area.”
